Bottega: A New Italian Dining Experience Coming to Lacey

Lacey’s culinary scene is about to get a major upgrade with the arrival of Bottega, a new Italian restaurant set to open near Huntamer Park. The mastermind behind this exciting venture is none other than Rick Nelsen, the founder of Ricardo’s Steakhouse, a local favorite he later sold. Now, Nelsen is making a return to the restaurant industry with a concept that blends tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation.

A Master’s Touch in the Kitchen

The name Bottega is inspired by the Italian word for a “master’s workplace where he perfects his trade.” After 20 years in the restaurant industry, Nelsen felt the name was a perfect fit for his latest endeavor. The restaurant aims to provide an upscale yet approachable dining experience, featuring classic Italian dishes paired with carefully selected Italian wines.

A Unique Dining Space

Bottega’s location at the 640 building on Woodland Square Loop is set to offer a unique ambiance. Spanning over 5,600 square feet, the space will feature:

• A bar and banquet room for private events

• Garage-style doors that open directly to Huntamer Park, creating an inviting indoor-outdoor experience

• A wood-fired oven for authentic Italian flavors

• Side rooms for intimate dining experiences

Expanding Lacey’s Growth

Bottega isn’t the only transformation happening at the 640 building. The development group MJR Development continues its redevelopment efforts in the area, including:

• New office space, with engineering company KPFF leasing 12,000 square feet on the ground floor

• Apartment conversions, turning state office buildings into modern housing

• Upcoming residential expansion, with plans to build 376 new apartments east of the 640 building

Opening Summer 2024

Construction is already underway, and Bottega is expected to welcome guests this summer. With a focus on high-quality ingredients, refined atmosphere, and Nelsen’s expertise, the restaurant is poised to become a new favorite in Lacey’s growing food scene.
