🌳 Lacey Breaks Ground on Its Biggest Park Yet
Greg Cuoio Park Phase 1A Is Underway

Big Things Are Happening for Outdoor Lovers in Lacey—A Massive New Park Is Taking Shape

If you’re a fan of trails, nature, and open green spaces, you’ll want to keep your eye on Lacey’s newest outdoor project. The city has officially broken ground on Phase 1A of Greg Cuoio Park—a massive, multi-phase development that will eventually become Lacey’s largest park.
Phase 1A marks the start of a long-term vision to create a space where residents of all ages can connect with nature, stay active, and build community—right in the heart of Lacey’s growing east side.
What’s Coming in Phase 1A?
Phase 1A is all about laying the foundation for future expansion, while still delivering meaningful features right away. Here’s what’s included:
🚶 New Multi-Use Trails – Walking, running, and biking paths winding through the forested landscape
🪑 Trailhead & Parking Lot – New access point with parking and wayfinding signage
🧭 Wayfinding Kiosks – Helping visitors navigate the park and understand future phases
🌲 Environmental Restoration – Clearing invasive species, enhancing native plantings, and protecting sensitive habitats
This phase is focused on low-impact recreation and land stewardship, setting the tone for future additions like playgrounds, pavilions, sports areas, and more.
Why Greg Cuoio Park Matters for Lacey

Named after former City Manager Greg Cuoio, this park represents Lacey’s continued investment in quality of life, green infrastructure, and smart growth.
✔ Expands Park Access for a Fast-Growing Area – The east side of Lacey is booming, and this project provides essential outdoor space for new neighborhoods
✔ Connects to Regional Trails – Greg Cuoio Park will eventually link up with regional trail systems, encouraging biking and commuting via greenways
✔ Prioritizes Sustainability – With a strong environmental focus, this project aims to protect natural resources while making them accessible
✔ Long-Term Community Vision – This is the first step in a multi-phase park plan that will grow with the city
